Adjusting PARKING BRAKE TENSION
If the bike does not stay put when the parking brakes are set, ensure that the parking brakes are being operated correctly, and adjust the tension as needed.
1. Test Parking Brake Tension
To engage the parking brake, squeeze the left and right brake levers, and using your index fingers, push the metallic pins all the way down. Once the pins are in the down position, release your grip from the brake levers - the pins and levers should remain locked in place, and the bike should not roll forward or backward.
Engage both parking brakes when stopped on slopes, to avoid the bike rolling away from you.
To disengage the parking brake, simply squeeze the left and right brake levers, and the spring-loaded pins will pop back into their upright and unlocked position. You should be able to squeeze and release the brake levers, and the bike should roll freely without any brake engagement.
2. Adjust Tension as Needed
If the parking pins are engaged, but the bike still moves - or if you find that it’s too difficult to squeeze the brake lever far enough to allow the pin to set - then you may need to adjust the position of the parking pins. You can do this by adjusting the small screw, which is visible from the front of the lever, right where the lever itself hinges. You can use a #2 allen wrench to tighten or loosen the parking brake position on each lever independently.
Turn the screw clockwise to tighten the position of the parking brakes, or turn the screw counter-clockwise to loosen
